Designer Jule Waibel Creates Show-Stopping Dresses Using Mirri for Retail Design Expo 2016

Designer Julie Waibel Creates Show-Stopping
Dresses Uing Mirri for Retail Design Expo 2016

Mirri – a division of Celloglas, exhibited at this year’s Retail Design Expo on the 9th and 10th of March at Olympia London. As it was our first year exhibiting at the show, we wanted to create a ‘wow-factor’ for our stand and we did so by commissioning designer Jule Waibel to produce two dresses using Mirri, to be displayed on mannequins on our stand.
Waibel is a German designer based in London and Stuttgart and after graduating from the Royal College of Art in Design Products, she started her own brand, established in 2014. Waibel’s work translates into the world of products, interiors, fashion & textile, space design and performance. These projects are carried out in her studio based in South London.
For the exhibition we asked Jule to produce two dresses using her unique folding techniques. The first was created using large format 240g Mirri Brushed Aluminium. The second was on large format 240g Mirri Holographic Rainbow. For this dress, we printed a colourful pattern, supplied by Jule, on to the material in-house on our Roland DG printer. The combination of the material and the print made for a striking aesthetic and certainly attracted a lot of people on to the stand.
